I took a day trip to Fire Island this weekend and discovered more than just a beautiful beach. It’s got good options for vegans (more so than most beaches) and it’s also a great place to forage for wild cherries and beach plums… Fire Island is for fruit lovers.

Wild Cherries Galore!!! These monster size delicious cherries grow everywhere in Cherry Grove. Pick em, eat em, make jelly out of them. SOOO sweet. Pick em mid-to-late August to early September.
Beach Plums Heaven! Find these in the Pines Forest in Fire Island in late August early September.
