Pomegranate

There is something magical about pomegranates and I got my first one this season. Pomegranate seeds are said to number 613—one for each of the Bible’s 613 commandments. Putting the magic & bible aside, sometimes eating one of these is just too much work. To separate the seeds in 3 minutes or less, simply place a half or quarter pomegranate into a bowl  of warm water and start working on removing the seeds. The water will make the job easy and the jewels will naturally float to the top. I call it the “water birth”. You can freeze pomegranate seeds in zip lock baggies for winter.
